Rick Owens and Dr. Martens seem like an odd pairing on paper. One’s known for dark, sculptural, almost sci-fi fashion. The other’s been making the same sturdy boot since the 1960s. Somehow the Megalace DMXL makes that pairing work it keeps the boot’s toughness but blows out the proportions until it barely looks like a Dr. Martens anymore.

Little Things Worth Noticing

The leather has a pebbled texture to it, so it’s not just flat black. Silver hardware shows up here and there, and a line of yellow stitching runs along the sole, which is a small detail but it stands out against all that black. The ankle collar is taller than what you’d get on a regular boot, so there’s more structure around your leg too.
